Gemma Cairney at Queensbridge

We were thrilled to have author and broadcaster Gemma Cairney visit the school yesterday to deliver an assembly to our Year 7, 8 and 9 students.

Gemma's recently published book Open is designed as a toolkit for young people and covers a wide range of topics from mental health to families, relationships and bereavement.

Open has been a fantastic resource for pupils during our Gen Z sessions, in which they have built their own toolkits to navigate their journeys through life at Queensbridge.

Gemma spoke to students about how 'magic and messed up life can be' and answered some of their questions in the hall. Next our own Gen Z ambassadors interviewed Gemma in the School Library, followed by a Q&A Meet and Greet which allowed students to chat with Gemma and have their Gen Z books signed - many were keen to show off the Toolkits they have been working on this year.
