i Week Performance - Year 7
After an incredible week of activity, year 7 performed this morning to an audience of parents and families a showcase of Art, Dance, Drama, Singing and Spoken Word inspired by Roald Dahl's Matilda.
Students had only three days to create and prepare for their performance, and after intensive rehearsals, they finished their first Half Term in true Queensbridge style, delivering a spirited and professional performance to a packed school hall.
Our folded Book Art pieces welcomed visitors to the foyer, with recordings of students' character monologues as an audio backdrop.
The showcase then began with choreography created by the students exploring key themes from the book, interwoven in Matilda's fantastical story retold by 6 groups of year 7 actors and performers.
Selected artists created live illustrations on stage in the style of Quentin Blake, voiced over by stunning student written monologues retelling the backstories of the key characters Matilda and Miss Trunchbull.
To finish, all 180 students confidently sang When I Grow Up, from Matilda: The Musical in three-part harmony.
Feedback left by parents, carers and families beautifully sums up what has been a demanding but enjoyable week for staff and students alike!
