History Field Trip

As part of their study of industrialisation and Victorian society, Year 9 students enjoyed a fascinating visit to the West Midlands Police Museum. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore the history of policing and crime in Birmingham, helping students make links between their classroom learning and real historical evidence.
Students toured the former Victorian lock-up, examined original prison cells, and learned about the experiences of prisoners, police officers, and local communities during the nineteenth century. They also discovered how rapid industrial growth and urbanisation created new challenges for law enforcement. Through interactive exhibits and guided activities, students gained a deeper understanding of crime, punishment, and social conditions in Victorian Britain.
The visit was both educational and engaging, bringing history to life and enhancing students' understanding of this important period.
