From Wish List to Bookshelf: A Student Trip to Waterstones

Student-selected books bought with World Book Day donations

Recently, a group of our students took a special trip to Birmingham City Centre to visit Waterstones bookshop — but this wasn’t just any shopping trip. They were there on behalf of the whole school to purchase a fantastic selection of new books for our library!

The books had been carefully chosen by students from across the school, who submitted their requests in the weeks leading up to the visit. Thanks to the generous donations from our parent community on World Book Day, we were able to bring those reading wish lists to life.

Our student representatives explored the shelves with enthusiasm, selecting everything from gripping novels and inspiring biographies to colourful graphic novels and thought-provoking non-fiction. It was a brilliant opportunity for them to help shape our library and ensure it reflects the diverse interests of our school community.

A heartfelt thank you to our parents for their support, and to Waterstones for hosting our young book buyers. We’re excited to see these new titles enjoyed by students for years to come!
