Reader Leader 2025-26

Year 10 Students Begin Reader Leader Training with the Children’s Literacy Charity
We are delighted to share that a group of our Year 10 students have recently completed training on the Reader Leader programme, a bespoke reading mentoring initiative delivered by the Children’s Literacy Charity.
This exciting programme is designed to empower older students to support younger pupils in developing a love of reading, while also strengthening their literacy skills. Through one-to-one mentoring sessions, our Year 10 Reader Leaders will help younger students improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary, fostering a positive and enriching reading experience.
The Reader Leader programme is more than just a literacy initiative—it’s a chance for our students to build meaningful relationships and make a real difference in the school community. As mentors, our Year 10s will play a vital role in boosting the confidence of their younger peers and encouraging a lifelong enjoyment of reading.
Participation in the programme also offers valuable personal development opportunities. Reader Leaders can count their mentoring hours towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award and include the experience in their UCAS applications and CVs, showcasing their commitment to volunteering and leadership.
We are incredibly proud of our students for taking on this responsibility and representing the school in such a positive way. We hope they make the most of this opportunity to contribute to our school’s reading culture and inspire others through the power of books.
