Year 10 Early-Morning Literature Club: The '16by16' Programme

Our Year 10 students meet before the school day begins to take on the ambitious 16by16 Initiative—a curated selection of sixteen mature, transformative books designed to expand thinking and build the intellectual confidence expected of exceptional Key Stage 4 learners. With just 16 months left of their school journey, these students are challenging themselves to complete a reading programme that genuinely changes the way they see the world.

Completion of the 16by16 Challenge offers a powerful way to stand out to colleges, sixth forms and universities. Students who finish all sixteen titles will receive a Headteacher’s Commendation and a special gold addition to their curriculum vitae, detailing their achievement and the books they have mastered. This recognition becomes a valuable discussion point in interviews and personal statements—showcasing aspiration, resilience and a deep commitment to academic growth.
